2. Hook, Line, & Sinker

Reel ‘em in at Hugh Gillis Public Fishing Area every Wednesday through Sunday from sunrise to sundown. From fishing to boating, Hugh Gillis offers a quiet respite. Stock up with hooks, lines, and sinkers at Oconee Bait & Tackle, where the staff will stuff your tackle box with all you need to catch a fish worthy of fibbing about. 

3. Open Air Market

Stock up for summer grilling at the Market On Madison farmers market each Saturday at 7:30 AM through October. Get outside and grill up Georgia Grown veggies and fruit for the best shish kebobs, sides, and salads. 

4. Park It

Not all of paradise has been paved. Escape with the birds and the bees to Stubbs Park where a butterfly garden and free-flowing natural creek await discovery. Pack a picnic, toss a Frisbee, and take a turn on the swings. This historic park is steps from Downtown, where local eateries and boutiques will give you an adventure of another sort.

5.  River Rats Love

Lounge in the cool waters, paddle down the banks, or hook a bass at the Oconee River. Site of the crossing of Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto and Sherman’s Army, take in the beauty of this great river Sunday through Saturday, sunrise to sunset.

Take a short drive and #getoutside at R & G Farms Monday through Saturday during daylight hours for the freshest selection of lettuces, including  kale, romaine, green leaf, and herbs picked fresh daily.

8. Get Stepping

Located in the heart of Dublin, this paved nature trail attracts wildlife like ducks, birds, and the occasional beaver.
