This is a sign-in firearms deer hunt. You must sign-in prior to hunting.

All firearms deer hunters are required to have a Harvest Record for the current season. Additionally, all firearms harvests must be reported within 24 hours through Georgia Game Check or before leaving the deer with a processor.

If you have a cell phone, enter the harvest date and county on the Harvest Record through the GA Outdoors App in the App Store & Google Play, online at gooutdoorsgeorgia.com or by calling 1-800-366-2661 before moving the deer from the site of the kill.

You can now report your harvest through the GA Outdoors App when your phone has no service. Enter your harvest date and county on the Harvest Record through the App Store or Google Play. When you get to a location with service, access the App and sync to receive your confirmation number.

Log It—Enter the harvest date and county on your paper Harvest Record before moving the deer from the site of the kill.
Report It—Within 24 hours of the kill or before taking your deer to the processor, report your harvest by going online to gooutdoorsgeorgia.com or calling 1-800-366-2661.
Record It—Copy the confirmation number received onto your paper Harvest Record.

Legal hours for firearms deer hunting are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sundown.

North Tract Highlights

  • A small cypress bottom lies just past the entrance on the left. You can park your car near the small bridge and walk into the trees if the area is dry.
  • The Waterfowl Impoundment (funded by Ducks Unlimited) features a boardwalk leading to an overlook platform. Tread quietly as waterfowl will scatter quickly.
  • Troup’s Lake is an ox box of the Oconee River, known for excellent fishing since the 1800s, as the lake is regularly replenished by river flooding. Prothonotary warblers and large alligators are regularly seen in and around the lake during warmer months.
  • Take the hiking trail south from the boat landing at Troup’s Lake for views of the Oconee River.
  • Camp under the stars during archery deer hunt. Primitive camping sites are available for up to 14 days.

South Tract Highlights

Located 6 miles south from I-16 on exit 58 on Hwy 199

  • Less accessible, more secluded, and with fewer amenities than the north tract.
  • Walking trails in various states of repair through the remote coastal plain swamp. You may have the whole 1,700 acres to yourself.
  • The Georgia Ornithological Society and the DNR maintain the South Tract habitat specifically to support the Swainson’s warbler, and this area has the largest known concentration in the state. Swainson’s warblers may be heard (but rarely seen) at cane thickets near stream crossings at various points along the trails.
  • For best swamp views, drive straight to Beacham’s Lake and walk the trail around the lake. Wet weather may turn the trail to the swamp so be prepared to back-track or bring waders.

From Dublin, take I-16 east to exit 58 (Hwy. 199) and turn south. Go 0.2 miles for the North Tract. Road to check station is on the right. Head 6 miles from I-16 for the South Tract.
