Festival Beginnings

Dublin Laurens County holds Georgia’s longest St. Patrick’s Festival every March! Dublin’s original festival kicked off in 1966, thanks to local radio personality, Dick Killebrew, who celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by playing Irish music and telling Irish stories and jokes. He felt the community should celebrate in honor of its Irish namesake, and others agreed. The first festival lasted for 11 days and included a Parade and Pancake Supper which are still celebrated today. The Festival has grown and changed over the years, and now includes six weeks of celebration. With a multitude of family friendly events, there is something for everyone!
