Turkey struts through the forest during turkey hunting season

Turkey hunting at Beaverdam WMA is calling April 8th through May 15th daily from 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset!

Turkey Hunting at Beaverdam WMA Specifics

Sign-in is required once per season for turkey hunting. You must sign-in HERE prior to turkey hunting.

All turkey hunters are required to have a Harvest Record for the current season. Additionally, harvested turkeys must be reported through Georgia Game Check within 24 hours.

Legal hours for turkey hunting are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sundown.

Hunters must wear as an outer garment at least 500 inches of visible hunter orange above the waist.

All turkey hunters are encouraged to participate in the Turkey Hunting Population Survey to record turkey observations and hunter success during the spring season. Click HERE or call (706) 557-3264.

License & Requirements

A Big Game License is required to hunt deer and turkey. A license that covers basic hunting privileges is prerequisite to the Big Game license. Some licenses such as the Sportsman’s License include this Big Game privilege.

A valid Georgia Hunting License, Fishing License, or Land Pass is required for any person 16 or over entering any state-owned designated fee areas regardless of activity. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult with a valid license. Various licenses are available, including Free Senior Licenses for adults 65 and older.

Beaverdam WMA Amenities

Located in north Laurens County approximately 12 miles north of Dublin GA, Beaverdam WMA offers visitors a wide variety of outdoor activities. With 5,500 acres of upland pine, mixed pine hardwoods and bottomland hardwood forests, this site is a great location for hiking and wildlife viewing. A boat ramp offers access to the Oconee River, and the Beaverdam Shooting Range is open sunrise to sunset. View the Interactive Map HERE.

Pitch your tent at Beaverdam WMA! All camps shall be in the designated campground unless otherwise posted at the check station. Camping shall be limited to a period of time not to exceed 14 consecutive days.

Directions

The address to the main entrance is: 2083 Oconee Church Rd, Dublin, GA. From Dublin: Take US 441 north 4.5 miles; turn right on Old Toomsboro Road, go 7.5 miles to the WMA sign; turn right on Oconee Church Road, turn at WMA sign. Go approximately 1 mile past check station to reach the range.
