Visit Dublin GA proudly announces that Andrew Johnson is now a Certified Travel Counselor.

DUBLIN, January 2019

Andrew Johnson was named a Certified Travel Counselor by the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Regional Visitors Information Center program. He is very passionate about tourism and the economic development of Laurens County. This motivation pushed him to become certified, which he accomplished in January of 2019.

Andrew is the youngest staff member at Visit Dublin GA’s Dublin Visitors Center and has been employed as a coordinator since 2017. He is a native of Laurens County and his enthusiasm to help the community led him to seek employment at the Dublin Visitors Center, where he has proven to be a great asset to Visit Dublin GA. Coming aboard with an eager to learn attitude, Johnson believes that working at the Visitors Center is “the perfect job to help me reach out to the community.”

A travel counselor is a certified agent that assists clients in planning trips and travel.  Developed by GDEcD, the certification requires a passing score on an extensive exam that covers Georgia’s history, geography, directions, regional attractions, and more. Johnson spent weeks studying for the exam, and easily passed it.

“It is exciting to see Andrew’s continued enthusiasm for tourism as a economic engine in Laurens County. This test shows a certain level of learning and devotion to the work Visit Dublin GA prides itself on. Andrew works hard to educate himself so he can be of maximum service to each guest who steps through the doors of the Visitors Center. At fifteen years old, I think Andrew is the youngest to be certified as Georgia Travel Counselor. We’re very proud to have him on our team.” said Rebecca Mcwilliam, executive director of Visit Dublin GA.

You can meet Andrew at the Dublin Visitors Center located off exit 51 on I-16 at 102 Travel Center Boulevard in Dublin, GA.
